Did you try putting that C5JF dist in your 272 ?

I did a google search on that housing number and got a few interesting links.
It looks like it's for a '65 260, or maybe 289 engine.

The third character "J" is for industrial/marine and maybe some 'other' applications.
If it were specifically a Mustang distributor the 3rd character would be "Z".

Post #7 at this link seems to say Sunbeam Tigers with a 260 V8 had a "J" as the third character.

I have to stop now.

It truly does not seem to be a Y block distributor. Is the shaft from mounting flange to the bottom the same length as the loadamatic. C5 on the distributor says it is a 1965. Y blocks stopped production in 1964. You want a distributor from an early 60s F100 from Cardone.

I bought a dist from autozone last summer. it was a cardone. it had a part # similar to what you have. they are some how remanufacturing 289 dist. into Y-block dist. I also noted that the shaft length below the drive gear was between 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch to short. in the end I did not use it, even though it fit, I did not like the shaft being that short and not engaging the oil pump drive shaft fully. probably would have worked but I ended up buying a new msd unit. still have not finished the stroked 313 build, so can't say how everything worked out.
