Default Speedway Bendix Self Energizing Brakes

Are any of you guys running Speedway Bendix style self-energizing brake assemblies? Hoping they are a big improvement over the juice brakes for my 40 woody. They do require some grinding on the front spindles at the top for clearance. For now, I am going to keep the Lockheed stock juice brakes out back. Cost a grand just to change over the front. Hope they are worth it. I just ordered the Speedway Bendix style brakes last night.

Phiilipswanson; Are they the same as the MT Car Products Lincoln brakes which also require the grinding of the top of the spindle? Price looks similar. I made a grinding template. If you need a copy, just send me a PM.

Speedway buys the Backing plates from MT and makes their own hubs and drums. I would strongly recommend using the MT drums and hubs as they are made in the USA. I would do a little research on the Speedway drums and hubs.

I agree with Krylon. The MT drums and hubs are are very well made and machined in USA. I have MT Front Bendix brakes, hubs and drums with Ford rears on two cars and that combo works very well.

John: Me too. Bought complete 4 wheel package from Krylon's company several years ago.
Excellent product.

Not the same. Those are a little smaller in diameter.

Too late. Already got the fronts from Speedway. Maybe later if I also do the rears. Does MT offer free shipping like Speedway?

Just check over the MT ones before you get into it, yes they are well made however they welded the pivot pin block incorrectly on the set I have and its caused me all sorts of grief and damaged the drum a little before I worked out what was wrong ..

For me, Speedway is much cheaper. Since I live in CA, they hit me up for sales tax and shipping charges. On a grand, that's easily $200. I got free shipping, no tax and a discount for my first order from Speedway. Hard to beat. I'll cry all the way to the bank.

Speedway has always treated me well ! I have purchased many items , and have always been satisfied . The few times that I had to return something (for whatever reason ), was hassel free. - F F

Can the Speedway brakes be adapted to a self adjusting system?

Might be able to make H2546 & H2547 self adjuster repair kits along with a H424 adjuster spring kit work; depending on how the provided shoes are drilled.
