From memory, all the dash plastic is held on by little screws from the back. Have a look, but I'm guessing you may need to remove the wiper motor to get at them with a non-stock wiper motor!

Remove the center chrome trim strip. You should find screws at the top and the bottom of the grill, according to the Ford service manual.

Bill, there are six screws that hold the plastic panel to the dash. All are installed from the rear of the instrument panel. There are also two screws that attach the chrome strip, also from the rear.
If you have a radio, you'll need to remove that to gain access to the screws.

I defer to my friend Mike. My '47 had an aftermarket chrome dash when I got it, and I left it in because it certainly looks better than the original plastic version. Of all car jobs, working under the dash has to be one of my least favorite, as my old carcass doesn't bend like it used to.

If you have a plastic one there could be 6 screws, if chrome replacement at least 2 and 2 near radio. pic shows 2 3-9 o'clock

Apparently I'm not far behind you! Getting beneath the dash is the easy part. getting back out? Not so much...

How about a picture of that chromed dash???

With a fused neck, open heart surgery and an artificial knee it is getting harder every day! But the old cars are still easier than the new ones. Work on a lot of Fox mustangs and getting under the dash of them is a lot of fun!!

Bill, you said the wiper blew a fuse, so your problem may not be the wiper motor itself. If the switch for the electric wiper motor is in the stock vacuum motor location, or somewhere on the dash, close to the windshield garnish molding, the problem may be moisture getting into the switch, causing the fuse to blow. I had a similar problem with an electric wiper motor in our '51 F-1. As we all know, from experience, these old Fords have a tendency to allow moisture/water into the car through the cowl vent and the windshield rubber. Have you tried replacing the fuse (after the morning dew has dissipated) to see if the wiper motor will work? See you in Dawsonville. Vic
