I suspected for awhile. He was a good friend and one of the early members of the 500 hp naturally aspirated flathead club.

Being kind of a "Newbie" around here, I wasn't sure of who Ron was referring to, but I had a bad feeling. I did a little looking around, and my worst fears were confirmed. The first two Flathead Books I purchased were John's and Ron's.

I with the rest of you in expressing my condolences and mourn the man as well as the knowledge we have lost.

Hi Ron; X2 On the man John was. He and I exchanged emails for years. He wrote me about taking you to Bonneville after I wrote to him about the first time I drove us up to spend some time with Walt DuPont. He loved the photos I used to send out of our lab litters, black females were his favorite. He always spoke highly of you and I have always agreed. We will always have great memories. God bless John and you, Craig.

I had the honor to meet and spend time with JWL years ago at his home and shop. He was just writing his book and sent me home with a pile of pages to go through. His shop and projects he was working on was amazing. Incredible man. RIP John

When I went to Johns for the first time, he ut me to work cutting the grass. He had a fenced in yard that he told me not to cut because he had some watxh dogs in there that weren't very friendly. I finished the outside, didn't see any dogs so went in and cut the grass. The dogs came out of a shed and wouldn't let m me out.. There was an Akagator in the pond and snakes in the out house, And John got along with all of them.
