Default Ford Shift knobs

I found these Ford shift knobs and was wondering if anyone had any information on them? I don't know if they have any age to them or not, they are pretty cool though..I also collect aftermarket hood ornaments for the '37 ford.

Cool shift knobs are prevalent in my and others collections. Them seem to come and go as guys one-off them. Making them interesting over the yrs.

these are pretty neat, just wondered who would one off these particular ones. I will probably run one of these knobs on the car.

These are all over eBay, FB and other places - with many of the sellers "acting" like they are old knobs that were produced decades ago. The word 'vintage' seems to not mean old to many . . . maybe the term 'vintage style' would be more accurate.

When I asked one vendor: "I found these in an old box of knobs/parts - I don't know if they're old or not???".

I can't stand it when folks are stretching the truth -- my guess is that many know exactly what they have, yet they get all "dumb" when pressed. Bad Karma as far as I'm concerned.

One Definition of 'Vintage' and How it's Used Today: (Urban Dictionary)

In the late 1900's and early 2000's, vintage has become an adjective used as a powerful marketing tool to increase the implied value of an item and increase its profitability when sold.

Okay - enough coffee today!

Well, maybe the box was old, but the parts in it weren't.
Or maybe he put the new knobs in a box with some old knobs, put them on his shelf, and then 'found' them a week later.

Just having some fun.
I do agree with your comment, vintage and old are selling points, and the truth gets stretched as much as needed to make a sale. Sad, but true.

Wouldn't truly 30's knobs be made out of Bakelite? That is testable, I think.

Yes, bakelite or Soybean. At first glance these knobs look interesting. But looking closer, they are WAAAYYY overpriced!! Consider the legitimate reproductions offered in the V8 times over the years. -$20.00 for stunning quality! -My opinion.
