46 grill guard revisited
In watching the attached movie I saw a 46 rolling off the line with just uprights but seconds later at 21:36 Ford is presenting a sedan to president Truman that has the grill guard attached. Did Ford go out and buy an aftermarket guard or was it factory?

Re: 46 grill guard revisited
I'm pretty sure that was a Ford accessory.

Re: 46 grill guard revisited
In a previous thread about this subject the question was asked if the Ford script on on this grill guard. There were a lot of "no's".
I too have the "Closing the years of tradition" book and cannot find the grill guard. I see listed as accessories "Radio, heater, seat covers, spotlight,Road lamps, back up light, engine compartment lamp, utility lamp, license plate frame, electric clock, side view mirror, vanity mirror, cigarette lighter,dyna-matic fan, battery corrosion arrestor, windshield washer, vacuum storage tank, fuel tank lid lock, automatic read door safety locks, gas cap lock, hand brake signal, brake booster, tire and fire unit, tire pump, insect screen, winter front, and bumper end guards. That is a lot of accessories and most of them I hardly see.

Re: 46 grill guard revisited
I was not listed in the 1950 parts catalog , but I found that it did go obsolete as of July 1953. Ford never kept accessories very long in cataloging, especially if they did not sell very well. Still happens today for accessories.

Re: 46 grill guard revisited
Gary, I see that but wonder why it's not listed in the accessories. Thanks for the heads up.
