My wife and I went to the movie The Artist today. Great movie. However, since the movie takes place from 1927 to 1936 or so, I enjoyed looking at the cars,too.

My question is, are the cars correct for the time period? Peppy Miller's chauffer driven Cadillac seems to be later than a '31. Also, did I see a '30-31 Model A in the 1927 scenes?

If these are two instances of using an incorrect vehicle I do believe that the Academy would need to have its trophy returned.

Seriously, there are several of you out there who could probably identify every vehicle in the movie. Did you find any errors with the years of vehicles used?

We just got home from seeing that movie. It was great fun! I liked the '31 (?) Lincoln- it sort of looks like my S/W sedan. A lot of the cars looked a couple of years too new, except towards the end, there seemed to be more nice-looking Model Ts than I would have expected. By '33 they would have been beaters...

the Lincoln is probably a 31 KA or 32 KB, certainly not likely to be encountered in 27. Nor would be a 35 Caddy in 1930. Seems the movies get the chronology of old cars wrong frequently. All the director needs to do is ask the owners of the cars regarding their year of manufacture, so I think they must believe the audience will not notice.

I saw tht same movie. Being a flyer I thought it was funny. Can't believe the editors missed it.

She also shows up at his house with her new friend in a 32 3 window when it's 1929 if I remember. Pretty good movie overall though. We really enjoyed it.

Bill --- If my memory serves me well (not guaranteed), I saw con trails in "A Bend In The River." I got a laugh out of that. Filmed in Oregon where I grew up.
