Re: Model As News?
Mine came yesterday. And, I say we give the good folks that are volunteering to do the magazine a little grace. So, I got the May-June issue in August...no big deal!
I do understand a new member not fully realizing that the "staffs" of the national clubs are for the most part volunteers trying to get this stuff done while weaving it in between the activities of their "real lives." Just like a church or even the local club, 10% of the people are volunteers and do 90% of the work and 80% do it all. I cheer for those who are carrying the ball on the national magazines, and the organizations as a whole. |

Re: Model As News?
Got the Model A News yesterday and wondered if anyone had ever seen an original or restored R.F.D. automobile that was in the advertisement on page 17? It looks like it would be fun to own one of those!

Re: Model As News?
I don't think they mail out from Garden City, but you can drop in at the MARC headquarters and talk to them about it.

Haven't got mine either, but then I'm a million miles from Garden City or wherever they come from.

Re: Model As News?
I thought the USPS cut mail delivery to Alaska as a cost cutting measure

Yup. At least a week ago I got the July/August issue.

Re: Model As News?
It is only after several minutes of self-debating that I feel I must jump in with a quick comment. I do hope that it will be taken in the right light and not seen as bashing or arguing for the sake of an argument. The comment that follows is my own and should be taken as such.
We just finished having the MARC National Tour here in North Carolina. Unfortunately, the illness of the editor did impact us quite a bit. The magazine issues that were delayed were in fact the first registration for the Tour. This delayed our first "national" notification of registration by just a little over a month and a half. I just received my latest edition and it still had information about the tour, even though it was completed well over two weeks ago. I only post this to pass along how it impacted us and to say that it is more then "just a magazine" in some instances. Just like the good folks who publish it on behalf of our National Club, many many of our members poured countless volunteer hours into making this Tour the very best they could. This did impact them. No one is complaining here, but rather notifying that its timely publication is very very important in so many ways. With all that said, thankfully we had a great turn out for the Tour. I for one, having never been to a National tour before, can only say that all the folks who came represented all the hard work and dedication it takes to repair and maintain these classic cars in a way we should all be proud of! ( I expected it would be that way, but they were even better than that!!!) Thanks for the memories. Respectfully, Tim Last edited by TimM; 10-20-2014 at 09:51 AM. |

Re: Model As News?
I got mine last week also. And I did notice that in the first couple of pages it was "advertising" events that were already passed.
Helen definitely needs some help!
