Default AA wire wheel

I ran across this wheel, i have seen pictures but not one up close. Were they all split rims? Was the AA wire wheel used on specific models or offered as an accessory wheel?

Here is a link to a good description of the 1928 & 1929 AA Split Rim AA Wire Wheels.

Nice looking 1928 AA wheel, with a good hubcap. I've always called that a lock ring type, not split rim.

Regardless of what you call it, it is a split rim.

Default Your AA Steel Spoke Wheel

CA Victoria,
The wheel in your picture was a production wheel for the AA through Jan. 1929. Note that Ford's name was "steel spoke wheel". Likely because the spokes are very heavy and not much like wires.

The outer rim of the wheel is solid "not split" like many earlier wheels (and other manufactures). Ford's name was wheel rim flange (part AA-1099) for the removable flange used to lock the tire in place.
