Default power steering on a 53?

Did Ford offer power steering as a option on 53 cars?

jimTN,

It took me 4 years of searching to find a complete unit with the 3 belt pulley. I will say though, it is totally worth the search. Parking can be done with one or two fingers. Actually I use a Nardy knob to park, drive and turn corners.

FYI, the plate that mounts on the drivers side frame, is different for a Ford than a Mercury, otherwise it is the same unit. How do I know, when I bough mine, it was taken off a Ford and I had to find the plate.

The first two pictures are for the Mercury and the last one is for a Ford. The Mercury has two holes on the bottom and the Ford only has one.
