I'm an old guy but I'm new to As. I read the threads about the garbage bag method of changing tires. If it isn't to mutch trouble, could someone explain how that works? thanks Joe

- Lay your wheel flat on the floor on a piece of carpet.
- Lay a large trash bag over the wheel. The trash bag should be double thickness just as it comes from the roll/box.
- Lay your tire over the wheel and begin at one side pushing the tire onto the rim with your hands or feet. The bead of the tire will slip into the recess in the center of the rim to allow this.
- Pull the trash bag out.
- Slip the tube between the tire and wheel, inserting the valve stem.
- Very slightly inflate the tube.
- Again lay the trash bag over the tire/wheel assembly pushing the edges between the tire and wheel.
- Push the other bead onto the rim.
- Pull out the trash bag.
- Inflate tube.

IM I Missing something here, I find it real easy to change the tire right on the car. Has anyone else changed the tire while on the car. A friend of mine who is into Model "A"s said this is the easy way, Was ok with me, Ive done it no other way.!!

I just finished mounting 5 new Goodyears by hand. First tires ever hand mounted. The trash bag method worked fine. The guys here were very helpful. SEARCH: Trash bag. U-tube has several hits with video, also motorcycle tires similar.

I learned: If pushing tire on rim with palms of hands, wear gloves! My blisters should be healed in another 4-5 days.

Setting rim outside down on 4 padded 2x4 pieces helped.

Feet with sneakers worked better than hands.

Bead of tire must fit down into rim center. You aren't trying to stretch bead over rim, just slide it over rim (trash bag inner talc aids this)

Corn-starch ($1.38 Walmart baby powder) helps a lot to get tube to slide into position in tire, prevent rubbing.

One rim required duct tape around inside, then rim strip to prevent tube rubbing on pitted areas.

Slightly airing tube before inserting helps prevent pinching tube.

Go for it, these guys even taught me how to do it.

Dyna beads next.

I think this would be real easy. And i would think it would be super easy using the plastic bag while mounted on the car. Bag just helps to protect paint and makes tire slid on easy. Dont forget the baby or talcum powder. Just my opinion.
