Default 40 Ford Rear Bumper and Irons, Car, PU, SD, PD, Etc...

We are going through some Ford parts and recently sorted out bumper irons and bumpers. I never knew there were so many combinations of rear bumper irons for 40 fords...

From the Ford parts book this is what we came up with.

40 passenger rear...

40-41 pickup rear...

41 sedan delivery rear...

and 40-41 Panel Delivery rear...

Only ones missing are Station Wagon.

According to the Ford parts book, rear bumpers are different too...

40 Passenger and 40 sedan delivery used the same bumper front and rear. 40-41 Pickup, 41 sedan delivery and 40-41 Panel Delivery used the flat bumper on the rear.

This all sound right?

Neal

Passenger and sedan delivery used the same bumper front and rear. Pickup and Panel Delivery used the straight bumper on the rear.

This all sound right?

This is the kind of thread we need more often. The guys that run this site should put threads like this into a special file so we always have them on the web and this kind of knowledge can be accessed easier.

40fordpu: On the A forum we have a "sticky" at the top of the page (like this page has) for just what you're asking about. Try contacting RYAN. I believe someone has taken "charge" and maintains it.

neal--- thanks for posting your findings .we need more comparisons like yours. i always thought the 41 sedan delivery used the flat p.u. bumper which may make the bumper irons different than the 40 sedan delivery. i think the flat bumper had different hole spacing

Thanks for pointing that out...you are correct. The sedan delv bumper irons that we have are 41 then...as they have the narrower hole spacing for the flat bumper.

Learn something new everyday...
