Trans install
I am in the process of re-installing my Fordomatic on my 1953 ford. I removed it to replace the front pump seal. I did not remove the bellhousing and converter. I cannot get the last half inch to mate up with the bellhousing. I assume this is the lugs that are not lining up. What is the secret to lining them up? I am stumped.

Re: Trans install
there is a lug on the trans pump, there is a notch on the torque converter, eye ball those two to where the lug will slip into the notch on torque converter ,you do that with the trans out far enough so you can see notch and lug, just don't line the lugs up with each other when installing trans

Re: Trans install
I'm going to make a guess that the torque converter was attached to the flywheel and engine when you tried to do the install. No-no.
torque converter is supposed to be slipped into front of trans (while trans is out), then install trans, then slip torque converter forward, and attach to flywheel. JMO |
