I have seen car frames on the barn for $500 which they say is the same frame as a pickup. If you have time and like to work i would just switch frames and go. Would make a good driver if the body is good. I would offer $5000 to start if body is good and engine runs well. If the body is bad and engine is poor it just parts.

I think $8,000 is way too much. At best I would say $1,000. I bought my solid running 39 10 years ago for $3000 put $2000 into it not counting my time. If I was to sell it I would be looking for $16000.

Gee whillikers! If you really want something else, DO NOT SETTLE FOR THAT TRUCK.
You will quickly and surely have buyer's remorse.

However, the seller will be a happy camper.

I have a fair amount of experience.
A '37 sedan and a '29 roadster.

I would heed the advise above and take a "Pass".
For the money you can find something way better.

Pete, I agree 8K is quite high, but also feel 1k is quite low

Saw the picture of your engine. The electric fuel pump should be mounted back near the tank. They are made to push fuel not pull it. The horns are not correct for a pick up and the generator appears to be the 2 brush type with a voltage regulator and not he 3 brush type. If your grille molding has a hole in it, that has to be replaced and yuo made no mention of the center moulding. That could cost as much as $300 for one in "as found" condition. The surround moulding can be pricy also as they usually go with the entire grille. I would offer $3k or $4k maybe even less if the body is full of bondo.

How can anybody advise on worth and what needs to be done on six photos that show only small portions of the truck.

Worthless?? depends on how good the body and bed are before making a statement like that. Very little shown on the bed and body to make that type of determination

If is a 1/2 ton, then frames should be available as they are, essentially, the same as a car.

I'm not saying its worth 8 grand, bu who knows what she might take.

Model A hotrod, Having to pay rent for a garage in order to work on your restoration is all the more reason to keep saving your money and buy something that you really want and is in much better condition. The excitement and "newness" of acquiring a total restoration like that truck wears away very fast once you start keeping tract of what it's costing you to "rent" a place [lus the restoration costs. A single bay 8x10 garage with one little electrical outlet, a light bulb and no space to work can diminish your enthusiasm very quickly. This 10 x 20 with one light bulb and and one 110V outlet for $100 a month back in 1976 was a nightmare. Been there, done that. I ended up just storing the car there as there was no room to work.

If you're looking for a coupe you would probably continue to look for one after you bought the pickup. Without more photos it's hard to judge, but it's certainly not worth 8K. If it runs out well enough, and you actually "want" a pickup, it might be worth 5K. Frame needs replacing or serious reinforcement, and that will require some indoor workspace. Sounds like you need to find a driver. Good luck my friend.

I"ve been buying barn finds, garage finds, for over 50 years now. When you find something like this pickup. Try to take into consideration. All aspects of the restro. Does the engine turn over? how much sheet metal will I need? glass, paint, trim, brakes, frame, tires wheels. How much can I do myself? How much will I have to have done by someone else? And the list goes on. Add all of this up. And be honest. Add this to the initial cost, plus your time. And see what figure you get. Are you willing to pay that amount? Is this really the project I want? Is this an investment? Or like me, just a crazy old Ford addiction and love of seeing another old Ford back on the road! Good luck with your choice.

This is sounding like it may not be for you. What is that going to cost each month. Does the garage have power and good lighting?

I'm in agreement that you can more than likely find a running one for $12-15. Believe me, it may seem like a lot but unless you get it for $1K, you'll be miles ahead of the game in both time and money.

Although the truck appears very cool looking I think a 46-48 mercury coupe would be a wiser choice, what I ask myself today to restore a car is do I have the time or patience to restore this one, my limit these days is 3 years.....Good luck

I'm a big sucker, and get raked over the coals often, but I wouldn't pay 8K for it. The rest seems half way decent for a driver, but who knows what's lurking under the sheetmetal. If you've got talent and time, you can find a replacement frame fairly easily. I wouldn't go over $4K personally.

Someone with lots of skill, lots of tools, lots of time, a good well equipped workshop and easy access to good parts like a frame could probably turn that around and make something out of it IF IT WERE CHEAP ENOUGH. (caps on purpose).

You appear to have little of the requisites I mentioned, and it ISN'T CHEAP ENOUGH.

How many people does it take to convince you not to buy it?

Sorry, but I'm being cruel to be kind.

Mart.
