Flat head engine rebuilders in Canada
Anyone know of reliable (would recommend) engine rebuilder(s) in Canada, am in central Ontario, currency exchange right now along with duty etc just about doubles the final cost for us in Canada.

Re: Flat head engine rebuilders in Canada
Most reputable engine rebuiders can do the job, especially if they've been around a while. R and R Engine Rebuilding in Thunder Bay, ON did my 39 Flathead, and I was happy with the results.

Most any machine shop, Try Car Quest in Lindsay, Roger Tennant in Port Perry,
Peterboro Automotive in Peterboro. Flatheads are not rocket science, they are 1930's technology. Give me a call, I live in Woodville, 439 2567 |

That flatheads aren't "rocket science", and that they're '30s technology.......TRUE! The fact that our Ford flatheads are '30s technology, and that they have their own set of idiosyncrasies and long-lost or forgotten requirements (like poured babbit mains, or the knowledge for setting-up and sizing full-floating bearings......not to mention setting-up valve clearances when they come without any built-in adjustments) that many current-day "younger" engine-builders wouldn't have a clue as to how to proceed. Craig (Old Henry) is a perfect example THREE different engine re-builds where the "experienced" machine shops/rebuilders (quite expensively) didn't do so good. DD |

Re: Flat head engine rebuilders in Canada
I could name at least 4 shops in my area that have the skills to do a flathead. All have been business for more than 25+ years.
Most customers won't pay the shop rate as the flatty does eat up shop time when non adjustable valve train has to be done. As for the stock valve train it is about as complicated as a Briggs and Stratton. "LOL" Definitely not rocket science in valve train. R |
