I used self sticking velcro. I cut it to the shape of the bracket and put one side on the glass the other on the bracket and stick the velcro together and tighten the brackets(i did this on both sides of each wind wing. It has worked for me. I had to remove the glass one time and the velcro made it hard to remove the glass it stuck so well

In my experience, there are different quality levels of windwing brackets. The cheaper brackets tend to have problems with the glass falling out. The better brackets don't seem to have this problem. I would suggest that, properly installed, the brackets that I got from Brattons, along with the supplied setting tape, and the glass from Brattons work well. I have never had a problem with this combination.

I use 3M "mounting tape". It's like very thin foam rubber with sticky on both sides - like foam double stick tape. Just put a piece on each side of the glass and mount it in the clamps and trim the excess with a razor blade. I've never lost a wind wing.

Down under we have drilled an 1/8" hole in the glass where the top bracket clamps, then drill an 1/8" hole in top clamp BUT NOT RIGHT through , only need to do on one 1/2 . insert a piece of brazing wire & this will take the weight of the glass , Must be done before heat treating the glass, Derek from a wet , snowy , NZ

Well, I too have experienced this. My take is at the MARC Meet in San Diego, I specifically purchased a set of original windwind brackets so that I can take them to a friend who has a CNC 9 axis lathe to see if he can profile them and whittle out a run of them in brass.

Then my next step will be to talk with Bob Johnson to see if he will show me how to make a small run of correctly shaped rubber gaskets. THAT is the biggest issue with them however the original style rubber will not work on a repro bracket.

I use an industrial double sided clear tape. It sticks like crazy. You only get one go. Any excess tape around the wind wings has to be very carefully trimmed with a razor blade. You have to be careful not to cut the glass. Never had one fall out, ever.

You cannot drill tempered glass. Glass shop can make you new ones and then send them out to be tempered.

My 1930 Phaeton's windwing brackets all had to be re-tapped with good threads and new fasteners used in place of all the cheap China fasteners. Next the wind wing glass had to be sanded only where the clamping brackets were to be mounted. Double faced tape was used to locate the brackets where they belonged on the sanded areas. All of this was after about a month of fussing, trying to keep the wind wing glass off the ground. And yes, all of the model A wind wing glass sold by any U.S. Model A parts supplier is tempered glass, as required by U.S. law. I found this out by having many different glass shops refuse to sell me "raw glass" wind wings.

Here's the easy way: Go to a Hockey supply store, or look on the Internet and get some old time friction tape. put a piece of tape on each side of each rubber piece and trim to fit. Now install the glass with a taped rubber on each side. My roadster wind wings are going on ten years now with no problems.

Clean all the pieces very well and use rear view mirror glue...then use masking tape or similar to hold them for a few days if you want to drive your A. I left my tape on for about a week before I got the guts to take it off. Mine have held for a long time!

My repro metal parts are hollow, so I filled the hollow area with JD Weld in order to increase the area of the clamping surface. I have not yet installed them, but I think that this would help along with any of the other methods mentioned above.
