Re: electic pump
This is exactly like my drawing, and condensed to fit in a small space. It uses a lot of hose clamps, but looks like it works just fine. You can spend more time/money to make it look cleaner, but the result is the same.
I wouldn't call it 'Rube Goldberg' at all. I would call it effective. Sure beats running the battery dead trying to pump fuel, or sitting beside the road because your 1934 model fuel pump quit working. Plus, if you don't want to use to the pump, you just leave it turned off. Engine draws through that white (one way) check valve.

Re: electic pump
13 hose clamps! What could possibly go wrong? I am not one to criticize, because I have 10 hose clamps on my Tri-Power carb setup.
11 could be eliminated if the pump were one that allowed flow through while not powered on. |

Re: electic pump
The unit is currently hanging on the wall in my garage, never to be used again. It was a means to an end, then I quickly found the Airtex pump and replaced it. Since I have found a back up to the Airtex, I never went back to clean up the pumps design. Now it comes in handy when the discussion goes to making a by pass with a check valve, to a pump and a picture saves a thousand words.
