1934 Crank Handle Bearing Guide - 59A
When mounting a 59A in a 34 ford does the Crank Handle Bearing Guide interfere with the crankshaft pulley or bolt? This is the ring piece that the spring bolts run across on top of the crossmember. If so how have you guys addressed that? Thanks

Yes, there is not room for the bolt, most folks cut off the loop or get the crank guide from a model A. There was just a long thread with pics here just last week I believe

If you don't need it right away, I've a chopped-off-top one for the price of postage. It will be available in April.

Re: 1934 Crank Handle Bearing Guide - 59A
A friend has a 31 Model A crank guide he'd let me borrow. Would it also require modification in order to clear the 59A crankshaft pulley bolt? Thanks fellas!

The Model A's are flat on top .The 32'-34's are curved as are the U bolts. So you will need the Model A, U bolts. Here is a pic of a 59A engine in a '32 chassis for example.

The 31 model A crank guide I have is made for the curved u bolts. Does it need to modified to clear the crankshaft pulley bolt? Thanks

I cut the crank dog teeth off the bolt in the lathe, then I could use the stock u bolt mount.

Do you have the necessary spacer that goes under the mounting ears of the water pump to the motor mount biscuit ?
Here are a couple pics friend just took of the later flathead in a 33 frame.Yes its tight. Can't even get the fanbelt on or off without raising the engine. Last edited by deuce lover; 02-23-2023 at 09:08 AM. |

The late A and early '32 hand crank guides are more or less flat on top and use curved U bolts for the retention of the front spring.
