My New Find!
I am always amazed at all the great finds that some people find and always wishing that it was me finding one! Well yesterday it happened to me! I was out chasing cattle on my horse in the Utah desert close to three miles away from the nearest road and all of a sudden I run across..... Well I really don't know what it is but I think with some touch up paint and a tune up I can hopefully have it up and running in a few hours! It makes me wonder how exactly this got out in the middle of nowhere and how much stuff like this is spread across the country lying around unknown!

I know what my wife would call it and this time she might be right !! No all jokes aside I bet some one here will recognise what car it is or was !! Who knows maybe someone the other side of the world will want those doors or something ,it's happened before Keep looking & good luck !!! it might be a 32 roadster next time John |

Re: My New Find!
Kool, just a bit of TLC will do. I had the same kind of find on my dad's 160 acre ranch in the foothils outside Oakhurst, Ca. Down at the bottom of a ravine covered by flood washed debrie and rolled into a ball was what appeared to be left of a Chrysler Town & Country from the late forties, the only recognisable part was the waterfall chrome trim in the center of the dash. Oh well...

Re: My New Find!
when I live in Idaho in the very early 60s ,I used to drive out in the desert in my 30 tudor sedan
i would go miles off road and always would find rows of old cars, many model As and Ts there was no rust out ,just surface rust i couldnt understand it but my girlfriends grandmother clued me in there were no junk yards back in the 30s or 40s (in rural Idaho) so they would drive the cars out as far as they could get ,and just walk away from them,so all her cars were in a row even back then a few people went out and hauled the good ones back to town i remember a beautiful brewster green roadster body standing up against a garage that the guy had hauled in i believe they have all been removed by now i have some property up in the foothills and some people would just push their cars and trucks over the edge and they are wedged in amongst the trees, where I cant get them out |

Re: My New Find!
i'm probably wrong but my guess is that it is a coup of some make. The two doors and what looks to be the "turtle deck" seem to point to that. The key/magneto switch should be easy for someone to identify.

Re: My New Find!
Back in the day, all of the "old school" car salesmen would have some choice
"catch phrases" to describe such a find. Here are some I remember: It runs out real good It's a little jewel She's a creampuff Owned by a little old lady Only driven to church on Sunday Jack

Re: My New Find!
Yeah all the hard work is already done!
I have always been amazed at how far these "bush finds" are dismantled or ripped into pieces. Who had the time and tools to do that? I could see it if it was discovered in a wash or at the bottom of a cliff, but the stuff you see sitting in the middle of nowhere, all torn to pices..........Aliens? |

The dash looks like a mid 1920's Dodge.

Re: My New Find!
Interesting dash - appears the instruments where on the right hand side of it, which would seem unusual unless it was a RHD vehicle. Flipped the original picture over.

Re: My New Find!
The reason so many car bodies are abandoned is economics. Junkies say cutting the frame and axles out from under a car brought more money than cutting up the body and hauling it off. Acetylene is expensive.
