Painting inside of wheel wells
I am doing some housekeeping and preventative care. My A is a well maintained family "Go car" and has no aspirations of being a show car.
I am looking for recommendations on what to use to paint the underside of my fenders/wheel wells and rumble floor which have a mild -moderate amount of surface rust. I was not planning on removing the fenders but rather removing the wheels and quickly masking off the topside of the fenders. Any recommendations on an off the shelf paint? (feel free to recommend OTC spray paints-- If appropriate) Thanks

Re: Painting inside of wheel wells
That's what I'm working on right now for the 1931 Blindback. I found the most rust is under the fender metal where it attaches to the rear wheel well. I'm sanding and sandblasting the area to get rid of all the rust.

How about "Chassis Saver" from Magnet Paints? (magnetpaints.com) I had never heard of them either. Keith True had used them on trucks and equipment with good results. It's all US made and as paints go, not too expensive. Price is around $110 @ Gal I am using "Chassis saver" on my frame. Can be brushed or sprayed. Check it out!

You may want to consider using one of those do-it-youself bed liner. Use a roller to apply and they're tough, resistant to rock chips and may reduce those rock dings from surfacing on top the fenders.

Re: Painting inside of wheel wells
I reciently did some cleanup work on a friend's Model A. I used my pressure washer and some sandpaper on the underside and then brushpainted under the fenders and visible areas of the chassis. It's not blue ribbon but looked a lot better.

The more grit the surface has, the better it sticks. It's not too expensive and it's tough as glass. B.G. |

I've used Chassis Saver on some small stuff and it is pretty impressive. Napa carries it.
