Default Windshield frame seal removal..HELP

I am working on removing the old petrified windshield seals (frame to body seal) from my 47' COE windshield frames.
Does any one have an easer way to clean the frames than using a carpenters knife and screwdriver ?
I cut all the rubber off from around the out side but the part or the rubber that is in the thin grove is hard to get out.
The old rubber is hard as a rock , is there anything that would eat it away or even soften it up... ?
And I thought getting the screws out and frames apart was going to be the hard part......
I feel like I have been on this part of the project for a month of sundays... !
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you in advance... Ron in AZ

I just put them in my blast cab and it took some of it out but I have along way to go yet....

A propane torch will soften up the rubber or melt the glue holding it to the frame.

Laquer thinner also softens rubber but it doesn't mix well with a propane flame.

Thx , I didn't think about the thinner thing.
I'm kind of afraid of the heating of it as it is thin metal and it could warp.
