Flathead headgasket tech
Well the Model B pickup had a head gasket leak and I had to do a little maintenance, so this job turned out to be a little tech tip too.
Like any good flathead there is always an issue when you go to install the head gasket, the prepunched stud holes don't seem to always line up completely and one or two studs drag on the gasket during installation. Well there is a simple cure for that, first attempt a dry installation to determine which studs drag on the gasket and mark the hole with a felt tip marker. Then using your handy step drill at the 1/2' step just burnish out the hole and "walla" the gasket just drops right on down over the studs. This will work with copper , steel or composition gaskets and prevent bending or tearing of the surface during installation.
