6 volt positive ground SW gauges
What is a good source for 6 volt, positive ground, Stewart Warner gauges? I ordered an electric oil pressure and temp gauge from Speedway and they sent me 12 volt negative ground gauges. Thanks.

Re: 6 volt positive ground SW gauges
I bought mechanical SW gauges from Summit for my '46, 59AB Coupe, before I figured out how to repair the stock dash gauges.
The P/N's SWW-82208 Oil pressure SWW-82210-36 Water temp SWW-82175 Vacuum gauge SWW-82553-F Tube kit 6ft SWW-811653-F Panel 3 hole 2-1/16 The reason I decided to install the vacuum gauge, is vacuum is a great indicator when troubleshooting an engine problem. I connected the oil tube below the pressure sender (see pic) and the temp sensor went in the left cylinder head in front of the rad hose spigot. |

I don't think gages care about polarity, and they probably don't care about being on 6V either since they just compare resistance between the internal resistor and the external one in the sender which will always be a ratio of the voltage.

Re: 6 volt positive ground SW gauges
Does anybody make an electric, 6 volt, positive ground oil pressure gauge and and temp gauge? I am beginning to think that they are all mechanical. Or has "chevy43" got it right that polarity and voltage don't matter? I called Speedway and spoke with the "flat head" tech., he really didn't know much. I'd love to find electric. Thanks.
