Air conditioning
I've lost the phone number of the guy in Houston that sells A/C kits for Model A's. I thought there was a recent thread about him, but search was unable to find it.
Any help with his phone number and name would be appreciated. |

Re: Air conditioning
When the time comes for me I want to look into those late 30's canisters that hang on the side of the door for A/C.

Re: Air conditioning
Opening up windows doesn't always mean instant a/c. Here in south Texas, all windows down means Hells fiery gaseous heat is gonna be cooking you faster.

Re: Air conditioning
For me it's 4 - 40, the extra windows mean I can go slower.

I understand that. Living here in PA, though, where it's only going to be 91 today, I can be elitist and think that Model A and Air Conditioning are not 4 words that should be linked together. When linked, what my ears hear are "street rod". Don't post it near me on the HAMB either. Real hot rods don't have AC. Seriously, though, if you don't have a million point show car, good luck. |

Re: Air conditioning
In texas when its 100 degrees outside, in may, with 94% humidity. It then turns into 135 degrees inside the car. When model a's were built they didnt have the traffic of today. If you live in the country and can keep a consistent pace while driving its not bad without a/c. But i the city stopping every 100 yards, dealing with traffic the inside of the car is downright miserable. Ive had my car with 3 layers on insulation, and a heat shield and you cant help but get sopping wet with sweat. So yes i installed one of kens a/c units 3 years ago. And even on the hottest of days (112 degrees) ive still never broken a sweat inside the car.

Re: Air conditioning
IMO do what you need to do to enjoy your driver Model A. I liked to drive in fresh snow before the salt trucks got out. It's cool to put fresh tracks in the snow and being able to travel up hills when no one else could move. Think Snow when it's so hot :-)

Re: Air conditioning
Love my unit from Ken Davis. Driving in the summer use to be miserable, but now I can actually enjoy my Model A during the hot 6 months of summer here.
