Re: Need some assembly book advice.....
I know what you mean about the visual stuff. I'm getting ready to do the same thing. It might help getting an answer if the Barners know what body you have. Good luck.

Here is a link to the index all 8 books: http://www.mafca.com/downloads/Index...2Index-all.pdf I only got the Judging Standards a few years back, if I had realized how much information was in them I would have certainly bought them years earlier. Great for identifying parts. The Service Bulletins are quite helpful also. I started out with only the book "Model A Ford - Construction Operation and Repair" which is also good but I believe it was originally published in 1929, so it doesn't have some of the '30-'31 features. I was a kid and had a couple of great teachers, sadly they are all gone now. Along with their pick-ups and cars that I got a lot of hands on experience with. |

Re: Need some assembly book advice.....
I have:
All 3 of Les Andrews books All 8 MAFCA "How To" books Most Recent JS Service Bulletins, both small & large editions Paige's C-O-R book Several others I don't remember Most of the vendor catalogs And between all of the above, there are still times I can't find an exploded view of something I'm working on. -- Go figure! |

Re: Need some assembly book advice.....
If you have no books at all, I would start with;
Restoration and judging standards - identify specific parts for specific cars. Les Andrews Volume 1 - Not perfect but the best out there for taking apart and rebuilding. Your year owners manual. - What all the handles and knobs do and how to use them. From there you can add on to your library with the various other books out there, service bulletins would be the next thing I would add.

Re: Need some assembly book advice.....
saints: Don't worry about asking questions and being needy. That's what this forum is for. Another tip is to go to cruises and shows, look, observe ,question. Most owners eager to talk and show and answer ?'s

Re: Need some assembly book advice.....
I agree with Paul. Go find people with restored Model As, talk to them and look at their cars in detail. Take a camera, get lots of up-close pix. Take notes on a pad of paper. Crawl under their car.
We still don't know which body style you have; that would help us help you.
