Default Gas Gauge Tools on Ebay

Am I missing something here?
Why would someone pay $100?

Same thing available from Sneiders $5.65 and no doubt from many other suppliers. Wish I had a few to sell at the Ebay price. Makes one wonder how much it will cost to restore the whole car if willing to pay that sort of price.

Link says they sold. As I've said before" Let the buyer beware..
Maybe they were "original" reproductions.

My guess is uneducated buyer and possible shill (i don't know if thats the correct word) bidding. If I could sell them for that price, I'd quit my day job and sell Model A gas gauge tools. LOL

Those aluminum gas guage tools are very poor quality as well.Best to buy the steel ones for a bit more.

The good steel ones are around a whopping $10.00.

The seller must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Perhaps eventually the buyer will take them to an "Antiques Roadshow" taping in the hope of hearing one of the appraisers say, "Yes Sir, what you have here is a true American treasure..." instead of "You paid WHAT?"

Brings new meaning to Caveat emptor...

I once admonished an ebay seller for selling a book that was still in print for almost twice what the model A vendors were selling them for. He told me it was not his fault that the buyer did not do his homework. I sent him back a message that he was right.

A buyer and seller come together voluntarily; they discuss terms and a deal is struck. Nobody forced the buyer to pay that kind of money.

A few years ago I won a Tilly rebuild kit as a door prize at a picnic or something like that. Not having a tilly and never planning on having one, I listed it on eBay. Back then the kit was available through the suppliers for like $15 bucks. I ended up selling it on eBay for $40. Made no sense to me at the time but what the hell...

Ebay is weird. Last year I was outbid on one of those snap-on wrenches for the head nut under the distributor. I think it was bid up to $60 bucks by the time it sold. So, I went to the next one listed in the search, which ended the next day, ended up being the only bidder and got it for under $20 bucks, including shipping.

My old pappy use to say " That's when to fools met" the buyer was a fool for paying that much and the seller was a fool for not trying to get more.
