Default Another stromberg ??- 48 center section with 97 top and bottom-Good idea??

While cleaning out my carb stash, I found a pair of Strombergs that have 97 tops and bases, but are using a 48 center section. They came off of a intake set I picked up at Hershey years ago.

I know the 48 flows more CFM than the 97, but is this a good idea or match up?

All fits, and this gives you the spring loaded seat to hold choke position while running. Not a problem, quite possibly a minor improvement.
Hey! You're messing around on the internet lookin at hot rod stuff! Whai if a teacher comes along?!??

Also, to add on Bruce's wisdom; you get two positions for accel pump rod; S & W.

I've never looked...but go the carburetor chart in the Orange or Green '28-48 and see what top and bottom and choke lever assembly Ford specifies for the 48. If the part numbers begin with 67, that would mean the the equivalent 48 parts were discontinued and replaced with 97 ones for service replacement.

I call 'em "Hybrid" 48's... 97 style airhorn with 97 style throttleshaft for adjustability of the pump shot. It's important to use the longer 97 style link to maintain the geometry, as well. A good combo for those who want a little more CFM's.

Outwardly the same, except for a blank area where the 97 is and a small 1-1/32 in a small circle on the opposite side of the mid-section.

Model 40's (scarce, now) also have the 1 1/32...the area around air bleed over idle jet looks weird, though, so you can distinguish...they also have different Stromberg part numbers cast into the pieces.
Some but not nearly all 48's have a small "48" cast at upper edge of main body on left side and also immediately above that on air horn.
