Default 1951-52 Ford F-6 Altenator

I just purchased a 1951-52 Ford F-6 School Bus. It has a Flat Head 6 cylinder. But instead of the factory generator, there is a altenator in its place. Not a modern one either. The altenator on this bus has a tag that says LEECE NEVILLE and the volts is 7. There is also a item bolted to the top of the cylinder head, that is wired to the altenator. I say this altenator is a factory item. Cause all the brackets are nicely made, and everything fits correctly. Can anybody tell me anything about this set up. and is it a factory set up? Thank u for the help.

Leece Neville was the factory alternator of choice for years before alternators became standard equipment. I have never heard of one from that early a time period, but would not doubt it for a minute.

My '52/3/4 shop manual mentions alternators for emergency vehicles but does not go into any depth on the subject. I guess Chrysler didn't invent them after all.
