Yes but they fail more often IMHO. It's hard to beat a brass Stant. Fail Safes I have tried froze open quickly.

The people in todays auto parts stores don't know anything unless its in the computer. Most have never turned a wrench.

Maybe one could say getting an engine to level temp (180) quickly could help to heat the motor over all more quickly and which helps in warmer climates to increase the time/temp to go to higher temps under hotter conditions. But the temps will never help to cool an engine or lower engine temp below the thermostat temperature setting.


You can reduce carb heat (vaper lock) by blocking the intake crossover. Also a design to heat the engine/low combustible fuel of the day quickly in cool climates in startup.

If you look up the numbers it will give you a list of the years that they are used in. The Subaru Justy is what is commonly referenced, but the same thermostates are used in several different makes, models and years.
