Default 40 wheel out of round who repairs this? KY

I have one wheel on one of my '40 Fords that is out of round and bounces between 60 and 80 MPH. The wheel is dated and I want to keep it with the car. Does any one know a company that is good to repair this problem. I live in Kentucky.

Is it your wheel or tire? I had to have my tires shaved to true them up, what a difference.

I had the same problem with my 40 several years ago. The solution wasn't the rim, it was the hub. Have you checked to make sure the rim is the porblem? And is it out of round or is it out of balance?

My problem was out of balance----and it only showed up at 60 - 80 MPH. I ended up stripping the hub down and putting in the lathe and machining away excess material on one side of the hub that caused the out of balance.

I had four new Firestone tires and tubes put on the car from Cooker. When the wheel was placed on the balance machine without the tire the wheel was out of round. You could see the problem on the wheel when it was spun on the machine.

Your earlier description sounded just like a problem I had. You obviously were way ahead of me. Wish I could help you but I don't know of anyone who can repair it.

There is a very good place in Louisville. They shaved my tires on the car..My wheel was a spoke wheel .They also balance your tire on the car (do not remove hub cap or any thing)They balance and check high speed operation as well. They are located on Poplar Level RD. The business name is Tonys. They are close to fair ground where the street rod nationals meet I get mine shaved and balanced when ever they are replaced.A bout 1 hour drive but worth it .Smoooooth , lee34

I suggest finding a replacement wheel.Sideways runout probably can be dealt with.Out of round nearly impossible.
