Default JB Weld penny for heat riser block offs?

Blew out penny from heat riser in the block; would it be advisable to JB weld them in place?

forget the pennys, cut a small piece of thin metal large enough the cover the holes in the block, use some thing to hold the metal in place when you lay the intake gasket on the block, thin metal wont hurt the gasket and it wont move or blow out

Won't use the JB WELD, the pennies I used were out of the 50's. Trying to think of what I could use for metal between block & gasket that would be thin enough?

Check napa. They make small freeze plugs or machine one for a resistance fit

In the old days we used a strip of beer or pop can. In those days the metal was real tin. We just loosed the bolts up and lifted the manifold up and slide the strip in with about an inch or so hanging out. Come winter we just loosened up the bolts and pulled it out.......an aluminum can might not last long?

JT FORD X 2. I wouldn't use an aluminum can account likely burn through. Stainless steel shim stock would be ideal.

I use the cup type freeze plugs, any parts store should have them, just measure the hole, I think it's 3/4, I could go out in the shop measure one of my blocks if I wasn't so lazy. Walt

Will find some shim stock or get a couple of 3/4" freeze plugs.
