Default What's this 35 pickup worth??

Found this listing for a '35 half ton pickup and was wondering what everyone thought it was worth.
I know it's worth what anyone would pay for it but $16,500 seems high for something that hasn't run in so long.
I haven't looked at the truck yet. Just trying to get an idea what a good price would be.

Here's the listing with some pics..

This is a very solid 1/2 ton p/u that has been off the road since 1960. Its around 80 % restored. The flathead V-8 is believed original and ran 6 yrs ago. The truck is all steel and had a repaint in its original color black a while back, and still has a nice shine when dusted off. Still 6 volt, original style brakes, Firestone wide whites with side mount spare. Perfect grill and door bottoms, and the list goes on. Still have the original key fob, license plate from 1960, and title with s/n. You will search a long time to find a better 35 Ford pickup project than this one. Have many pictures available.

I don't see how that truck is worth any less than $16.5k

If you already had a truck you would need to spend a lot more than $16k to get it to that type of condition. And that's if you already had a starting point.

I've seen a couple on Ebay recently with bids in the high $20's. Doubt if it would take more than a few thousand to get it road worthy and operational again.

I can't help you with the price but I would clean it up, fix the small things, get it road worthy and drive the heck out of it. Nice looking truck.

Looks like a fair price to me.
Not much to do to get it roadworthy.

35 is one of the better looking trucks. They usually go for a good price. A nice one in excellent shape will go for 25 or more. Don't let it get away if you can. Have you drove it? From the looks I would say somewhere around 15. Not being there I am guessing. 35 is one of the better looking trucks.

Not a bad price if it is in as good of condition as the pictures make it look.

Haven't driven it or seen it other than pics yet. Listing says it hasn't run in 6 years. Only thing that bothers me is the engine hasn't run in so long. But that all could be fixed I guess.
I would definitely want to hear it run for the money.

I'd be a buyer at $15,000, no problem. Sold mine for around $13,000 some years back to a fellow from Long Island. All restored and drivable !

I saw the truck and had the same reservations. nothing is bolted down. He was out to do a quick job on it, and it needs quite a bit. The sheet metal is very nice, but needs all mechanicals, all glass, upholstery, chrome, etc. You will have 30K in it when it's finished.

Based on your description you did the right thing to walk away. Everything just placed in position for photos is a whole lot different than just needing to get the engine running again. Sounds like $11k - $13k would be more reasonable.

I think he bartered the paint job. But it should have been done after the mechanicals were finished. You need to strip off the cab and bed to try to save the paint job you are buying. It's a frame off job done half baked.

GSCOV, did you look at the truck in person or just saw the listing?
As long as everything was there, I wouldn't mind putting it back together. The nuts and bolts stuff is easy and getting the cab and body off if needed isn't an issue. I was thinking $10k unless I can atleast drive it down the driveway and back.
It was below zero quite a few days this winter never mind the last 6 since its ran. If the engine wasn't stored correctly, it could have issues with freeze up and that could be pricey to fix. I'm just going on worse case scenario if I can't hear it run.
It's only 2 hours away from me. Maybe I'll look at it this weekend.
Would like to have the truck.

It is always fun to look. That is a bit of a drive, but go for it. You never will know otherwise.

I was there with the trailer at 8:30 AM and the green stamps. Didn't like his description and attitude after traveling 4 hours in sub zero weather and shoveling a foot of snow to get the trailer in. He hounded me to get it out of his barn. But did he get it ready enough to transport? NO. It's worth it, but he got on the wrong side of me and I left it in his driveway with both fenders off. He's pretty hard to deal with as far as negotiating. Good luck. Being from Maine you got a better chance, eh? Der me. Just kidding. He ain't going no 10 grand.

Pay seller a visit again after the snow melts.
Maybe by then his attitude will have improved, especially
if it hasn't sold.
