Default AR engine numbers

Were the engine numbers that were stamped in the early 1928 "AR" blocks done with larger stamps than the later blocks that we are used to seeing? Bob

There are only two types of stamps that I'm aware of.

Thanks Mike, those are the ones I've seen, but the AR I saw yesterday had much taller numbers

Brent, The pad looked normal, I'll look at it again tomorrow. First time I've ever had the chance to look over an AR. Must have been a real nice car to start with, restorer passed away halfway through the restoration. "AR" features I've noticed so far are bumper clamps, full Brake system, with left hand parking brake, square rubber fender foot pad for rumble, it is a Sport Coupe, multi disk clutch. I haven't found a date stamp on the gas tank. Bob

Just learned that there are different pads A 854 that Mot posted is the first I've ever seen like that and those numbers look larger to me. I'll check things closer tomorrow. Bob

I knew someone would find fault with the AR referance, after 53 years I don't plan on changing, same with the "C" crankshafts. (smiley face) Bob

The numbers appear to be larger because there are fewer of them on the raised pad, merely an optical illusion!
Someone should post an engine block number in the 2 or 3 millions and you'll see the difference.

I'm starting to think it may be, numbers are 3/8 of an inch tall and there are no stars on the ends. Hope we get to pull the body to check the chassis number. Will the chassis number be in the same spot as the later cars? Bob
