Great story 1930marie. My 30 year old son loves my old cars. I just wish he were closer so that we could work on them more together.

Seaslugs, my old saying is, if you don't have money, all you have is time.

It's not just old cars that have investment "issues". I also collect antique clocks, firearms, furniture, etc. The upcoming generation just doesn't have the interest that us old folks have. Do I care? No, I buy things because I enjoy them -- and I couldn't care less what happens when I'm gone.

If you want an "investment", go with real estate --they ain't making anymore land.

Ray Rice, still playing with my toys.

A hobby is a hobby and an investment is an investment. At least in this hobby there is something physical to show for it and pass on. Who gives a rat's a@@ about a hole in one that took thousands of dollars and several years but the guy who got it? Not knocking any hobby that you enjoy, just have fun and enjoy.

True to a point. Old cars are a lousy 'investment' but the bond index fund and the market 'don't come without' risk either. As a wise man once told me 'Ain't nothin' fer certain'.

on the other hand, you can play golf at 150. a round and have nothing to show for it.
I'll take the rust.

I would love to buy a "500 point" restoration or "National Gold Medal Grand Prize Champion" (I've lost track of all the entry classes, you pick one) Murray Coach Town Sedan for $25,0000 (or less)! I have the feeling with the current rebuilding of the Middle Class" we are never going to see better prices than those we have now. I'm a buyer at the current price levels. And, P.S., I collect just about everything else too including real estate, however, I'm on hold for awhile because I don't like the current real estate prices out here in the N.W.!
