First "Y" block was 1952 Lincoln along with OHV 6 in Ford cars and trucks.

The old movies were able to get away with pretty crude tricks like that because they were intended to be viewed as a one off event in a cinema and the details like that are not the main focus of attention (part of the plot). Now we are able to watch these things and replay parts multiple times over, we can mull over these details far more easily.
