Brakes make squeaking noise, goes away when pedal is pushed
When cruising I often hear the brakes in the front, perhaps the drivers side more than the passenger side make a light squeak, squeak, squeak (fast squeak, in time with the wheel rotation). Just pushing very lightly on the brake pedal makes the noise go away…or making a right turn. If I brake hard it will often quiet the noise for a little while.
The brakes work fantastic so being new to A’s I don’t want to mess something up by guessing on the solution. I also don’t know what linings are on it and I understand that high metallic ones can cause this..but any ideas on an adjustment or lube to quiet the squeak? Thank you |

Sounds like the brakes are dragging just a little. Shouldn't be a problem. One of mine does the same thing. Jack it up and spin the wheel and you should hear it. If it's a bad drag, back off the adjustment one click and check. Also give your wheel a shake for bearing snugness while your there.

Could also be the drum lightly dragging on the backing plate and when you press the pedal the drum moves enough to eliminate that drag. You can ignore it unless it gets worse, or pull the drum and check for shiny spots. Also check the wheel bearing adjustment for looseness.
