How do you tell if it is an 8BA. I have a '41. Has 24 studs. There is an "A" on the head.

59 series engines from before 49 had the bellhousing cast into the block. 49/53 engines used a bolt on bellhousing like most late model engines. Plus the early engine had the distributor down in front below the water pumps while the late engines had a top mount distributor like most late model engines
