exhaust system
I'm ready to do my exhaust and I have no parts for except the manifolds. Wondering if you guys can give some feed back on what you have done and where you have bought the parts from. I'm looking to go back original or I would just run it to a muffler shop.
I saw that macs has systems and so does waldron exhaust. Thanks in advance for the feedback. |

Re: exhaust system
It would sure help if you knew the year of your car and where, in general, you live.

Re: exhaust system
Sorry, didn't mention that. It's a 1936 truck, Arkansas.

Re: exhaust system
I had an old time muffler shop in SoCal do the duals on my '39 p/u from the manifolds back to the rear bumper for $300.00. Generic glass packs and Chrome tips.

Re: exhaust system
Personally I would pay a shop to do it. Installing an exhaust system without a hoist and trying to make sure it doesn't interfere with something else can be problematical. I had a friends son, who worked at a local custom shop, build my exhaust system. When he asked what I wanted it to sound like I told him "I want it to be like a BMW motorcycle that you see go by but don't hear." It's so quiet that he calls it my stealth truck. I got over the hot rod and loud pipe thing fifty years ago besides now I can hear the wife/navigator when she says "turn right at the next light".

Re: exhaust system
i put a Reds headers kit on my pickup. have a 36 also. there where some leaks , so i has to take it to a shop to have them fixed. also i had them put flanges on the headers, so i could unbolt them to work on things

Re: exhaust system
I'm in the process of building duals for my 53 F100. I've spent quite a lot on pipe, mandrel bends and flanges. Would be more but a friend donated mufflers. I've been under the truck - on a hoist - for a couple of weeks now and it's not finished. After all this I've spent about what a good custom job would cost. My advice is to save the hassle and find a good muffler shop. Just my two cents! Curt

Re: exhaust system
Where are you located? Someone may know of a good "old school" muffler shop near you.
