Re: Wooden spokes and rims
Over the years, Model T Fords used several different types and sizes of wheels. Model T vendors, (companies that sell new and sometimes used Model T parts) have spokes. They are $3-$5 each and 12 are needed for a wheel. New demountable rims are available for about $125, I think. Old rims are frequently rebuildable if not badly rusted. Rebuilding wooden wheels is a craft that requires a lot of skill to make a safe wheel that runs true. New spokes must be individually fitted in place in the hub. Many people send their wheels to a wheelwright for rebuilding. The felloe, another part of the wheel may be wood or metal. This part can also require repair or replacement. |

I guess my question should be, I have a pair of Hayes rims with wooden spokes in excellent condition. These are not reproductions and have the Ford hubcap in the middle (looks like brass)Where do I find how much they are worth or how much I should sell them for. |
