Default Pluck's Walla Walla on PBS

I saw a little bit of paradise on the PBS news this evening. There was a segment on wine making in Walla Walla. What a beautiful place! I am very envious.

I can vouch for their wine!

Picking up a case next week after the Pendleton Roundup.

I claim Walla Walla as my USA home.

Onion wine? Maybe if they were Vidalias. I like my Walla Walla's grilled.

I won't comment on the wine, other than to say almost every (if not each) state in the Union (including - I suppose - Alaska) makes wine, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of most wines made outside the Napa Valley.

I went to school at the University of Idaho and in 1970 found myself in the dental clinic at the naval base at Newport, RI. There was a commotion in the passageway outside the operatory (sp?) in which I was waiting to have a couple of molars extracted (it was a slow day). Finally, after much shouting and waving of arms, two dentists and a dental tech came in and somehow having ascertained - probably from my dental record - that I was a recent transplant from Moscow, Idaho, and must therefore know everything about Washington, Oregon, and pretty much anything west of Pennsylvania (Easterners, especially those from Rhode Island, have a distorted view of the "west") asked me to settle the argument of whether in fact there was such a place as Walla Walla Washington (say it real fast). Having assured them that Walla Walla Washington did in fact exist, I thought the issue was settled, but one of the dentists (fortunately not the one that would soon have both hands inside my mouth) walked off mumbling something to the effect that he still didn't believe anyone would name a city "Walla Walla" especially if it ended up being "Walla Walla Washington."

Some people are hard to convince. (I also saw the PBS segment on The News Hour and thought it did credit to both Walla Walla and to the State of Washington.)

[Disclaimer: I lived several years in Bremerton WA, where the standard refrain was "In Bremerton you don't tan, you rust!" Great place.

Don't let the "Let'er Buck Room" or that great Pendleton "Let'er Buck" Whiskey get to you. It can be contagious especially when the girls..........Ahhhhhh, those were the days my friends, those were the days

How many Model A's were in the dress-up parade Saturday Ben? The Blue Mountain A's have a great group. Wish I could of been there.

I think a new record for diversity has been set here. This thread started with PBS and - a mere 8 posts later - ended up with the Three Stooges. That's enough to give you whiplash...

I am still doing my summer traveling. In Bend today/tonight, then on towards Pendleton tomorrow. I missed the parade last Saturday, but will make it to the one this Friday. No Model A's in Friday's parade, guaranteed.

Let'er Buck!!!!!

Let'er Buck....

Skip,
Sittin' here with a Mickey Mouse Band-Aid on my nose, think I have nose WHIPLASH, stumbled while checkin' to see if a check came in the mail & rammed my schnozz into the stereo lid edge. Broke it once in the same place from a face down fall on cement. and it was like sloooow motion, feeling my nose going into my face & sloooowly comin' back out. Gregg said I would have looked "funny" if it had never came out! Don't think I broke it this time as I just picked my nose & I didn't screem. (Yes, I live alone!) Bill W.

A little more history about the Walla Walla area. This is about the town of Milton-Freewater just down the road south of Walla Walla. The old story goes that they were two towns in the prohibition days separated by the railroad. One town was dry and the other was not dry. Guess you can tell which was which.

Walla Walla is a great town, I live about 44 miles from it. They do have some great Walla Walla Sweet Onions, including wine. In fact there are a lot of great award winning wines within a 100 miles in any direction of Walla Walla.

And the Pendleton "Let'er Buck" Whiskey, is some good stuff.
