Default Back from our trip to W.V.

Our trip was great with mostly good weather and some fantastic roads.
We stayed in State Park cabins built by the CCC in the 1930's. Cozy fires and critters on the front porch to say "good morning". The bridge over the New River Gorge was a real treat, too. You W.V. Fordbarner's are a lucky lot to live in such a beautiful state.

Thanks, we do like it too! Sometimes some of us take it for granted but it is a "wild and wonderful" place. Some would say, "Almost heaven." What state park did you visit? I have stayed in several in cabins at various times of the year, but Fall is my favorite season.

Glad you made it home safely. I attempted to strike up a conversation with you guys Sunday afternoon at North Bend State Park as you were loading your cars into their trailers. My wife and I mentioned that we have '30 and '34 Deluxe Coupes and I am President of WV's oldest antique car club (Nitro Antique Car Club, founded in 1961). One of your wives stated that you had been on a 750 mile journey. You had some nice Model A's and I wish there had been time to get to know you guys and hear the details of your adventure!

We trailered from Michigan to Parkersburg area, then drove to State Parks. I covered 600 miles and the rest of the group that had arrived earlier managed over 900.
Hot Rod Grill, I do remember you, and apologize for not being more talkative. We had driven 140 miles in tha "A"'s and had 7 hours of towing to go to get home, and I was probably thinking (dreading) that. I hope my tour partners were more courtious.

No apology needed. I could see that you guys were busy trying to get the cars into the trailers. Thanks for the kind words about West Virginia and our scenic beauty. Hopefully next time, we can get a few of us "locals" to join your tour group in our cars, or at least plan a hospitality/refreshment stop for you guys sometime during the week.

Great Lakes Gregg ..................
Sure glad to hear that you enjoyed your West Virginia journey. You are more than welcome to return.
I have stayed in those cabins, as a child, and still have impressions of it. I think it formed my love for the woods and outdoors.
One day a year, in the Fall, they close down the New River Bridge, to let base jumpers parachute off the bridge. It is quite spectactular !

I have to tell ya, I also want to take the my coupe to W. VA not only because of the scenery, but to meet some locals and to listen to some good ol' BLUEGRASS MUSIC.......................

"If it ain't Bluegrass, well it ain't music"

And I wish someone could help me learn how to pick this Banjo.......Casey Henry tried, and they don't get much better than her. So I'll pack it along, (just in case)......
