Default 1939 Oil Filter Mounting?

I just picked up this oil filter setup. The mount is labeled for a 39 but doesn't seem like it mounts like the one in Kube's photo. Does anyone have any mounting instructions for these?
Thanks!
Zach

The mounting bracket looks very different to me. In 36 the bracket had just two mounting holes, when the 60HP was introduced the bracket had 3 holes, so it fit universal to both engines.

Not the greatest pictures of my 39 Merc BUT maybe they will help, even the one that is sort of loose it still the spot it was removed from....I can shoot better ones this evening when I get home from work IF you need. The bracket looks just like mine.

This filter is not correct on your car.

Thank you everyone. Rockfla, that's sort of how I was envisioning mounting this if it didn't work out on the head. No need for more photos but thank you for the offer.

Thanks

Zach
