36 ford headlight bulbs from Ron Francis?
They list their part # B-2337 as a 125/75 candlepower. They say, with their special socket HS-2337, they will fit original 1936 reflectors.
Anybody tried these with aftermarket reflectors with the original front lense? |

I can't speak of the parts mentioned. I must say tho that 'back in the day', when Ron was first building his business, I found him to be solid and fair; and an innovative electrician.

usually, the aftermarket reflectors are chrome plated, not silver as original. chrome is not near as good as silver for reflecting light, and many are not the correct shape to focus the beam like ford intended.

The Ron Francis bulbs you referred to fits '36-39 stock receptacles and are designed to work with stock Ford lens. The aftermarket reflectors might be a problem because generally they are chrome plated in lieu of silver.
I converted the headlights in my '39 to halogen which turned out to be a big mistake, lots of light that went nowhere. I had to get a set of original reflectors, had them nickle plated with an optical quality glass coating over the nickle, now they work excellent

Re: 36 ford headlight bulbs from Ron Francis?
A lot of bulbs may be made to fit but focus of the beam is critical for a properly working headlamp in the old pre-sealed-beam units. I would be concerned with the focus more than the candlepower of the bulb. The quality of the reflector is also very important as was already mentioned. I'd ask the seller of a product about the focus first. If they can't answer the question then find a seller that can and will guarantee it.

The Ron Francis bulb #B-2337 is a bulb that RF calls his "Bright Bulbs", it is a 12v pre-focused bulb that is made to fit the '35-39 style of socket. RF also carries new replacement sockets for the pre-focused bulbs. Ron Francis also make a "gizmo" called Headlight Brighteners #BJ-2, that turns on both the high and low beam when used with his 12v Bright Bulbs or regular 12v sealed beams.. Does not work with halogens.. www.RonFrancis.com I have the Ron Francis printed catalog.... Very handy
