Actually just a hair under 3", barely noticeable with a ruler measurement. Never needed a proper spec because I only ever needed to distinguish from the considerably smaller '36-9 type...
Also all I have have the 91A- part number forged in, in rather small characters above the "U"..

Hey: KC: Its more importune the position of the 3" fork on the " shift rail " as it relates to the later SYNCHRO sleeve, the grove is to the rear of the sleeve, and the early SYNCHRE sleeve or collar the grove is in the center of the sleeve.... early is mid 38 and down 36 and on.... 39 and up, is later and the one everyone wants... sorry for the ba..ba. best info is Van Pelts book, on THE EARLY TRANSMISSION .and worth every penny go to.FlatheadV8.com or call 800-299-7496... Mac is a good guy and easy to talk to. and you know I get 100 of 1000 of $$$$ for saying this HA...HA. yea right ....OLD...BILL
