Default 31 coupe battery / generator wiring question

hi,
i have a 31 coupe with 4banger and 12volt
conversion.
running a gm 1 wire generator and have the battery in
trunk.
positive cable goes directly from battery to
the starter, so my question is, if i can run
the generator cable directly also to the starter
or if i have to use a long wire to battery positive for
charging???
thx and greeting from germany
alex

First post ! Wecome to the Barn ! So you have 12 volt negative ground with a standard model A starter switch. Yes with the engine runnimg your one wire alternator will charge the battery through the starter switch as it is hot all the time. But you may get a discharge when the engine is off.

What you want to do is fine. Some one wire alternators have a very small feedback when the car is off, so in time it will drain the battery. You might want to add a master cutoff switch to prevent this.

Run that B juice wire to the alt through a fuse or fuse link ...install the protection at the starter
