Default Did someone just key my door(s) AND fender?

Or, did they use a wire push broom?

It's not as bad as it looks.
Today Pepe and I re-drove the Transcontinental Railroad grade that we did in May (https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139471), including the 20 miles on the west end that we missed that trip, starting on the west end at Lucin and driving 90 miles on the grade in 4 hours. It was 98° most of the way and dusty. We managed to drive some of the middle section of the grade we bypassed on a county road before. That section is not driven much and the weed bushes were grown right in to scrape the sides of Old Henry in many places. Total round trip 480 miles in 24 hours. No problems.

OH NO. I hope it is mostly just leaves wiping off the mud, with no paint scratches. Keep us posted on what you find when you give him a good bath.

Thanks to Maaco's most excellent paint job and Meguiar's, one swipe with my California Duster and the dust is gone even without water. No, what looked like a real bad key attack was nothing but lines in the dust. No damage to the paint at all. Pretty amazing. (Good plug for Maaco, Meguiar's and the California Duster.)

One of the purposes of this trip was to get acclimated to the heat of the salt flats for speed week in a couple of weeks. In addition to skirting 100° on the drive we stayed in a nice hot room in Wendover Friday night. Gotta be there when you set a new world record!!

Now, if that was here in California, it would be politically correct to leave Henry dirty. I just tore out my grass and built a rock garden to conserve water, and now everyone else around here is proud of their new brown grass! Brown is the new green here now with the drought! Go figure!

Many years ago (and maybe still) Las Vegas bought peoples lawns from them. If they delivered to the city their lawn all dug up they would get money worth their sacrifice so that the city didn't have to find more water to keep watering everyone's lawns. If they replanted their lawns they had to give the money back.

Notice how I actually "dry cleaned" Old Henry with my California Duster. No water used, much less "wasted".

Henry, I get real envious of you driving around on old railroad beds. Got my truck running the other day, but it's along way from getting on the road.
good luck and keep the shiny side up.

I wasn't too worried as I have had a lot of experience with weed bushes and worse with a Jeep Wagoneer I used to go off road a lot with the kids. Never any damage. Just looked like it.

I did have a point to make with all of this: You really can have a lot of fun with these old flatheads, on road or off, without being too worried about damaging them. I sure do - and still get awards at the car shows.

Drive'n it like you stole it. That'll buff out. We all enjoy the ride and the sights. Keep the travelogues coming.

I agree! Sometimes you have to get em dirty to truly enjoy them.
