Bunch of stuff
Well I had to log again and it didn't work the first time, but here I am.
I'd like to comment on a few things, First: Flatdog, he was one of the finest man I ever met. He and I passed information on breathing a flathead. Porting, reliving and blown. I have very little experience in blower motors. Having run flow bench tests untilll I was blue in the face, looking for the holly grail of HP. I came to the conclusion, There ain;t one. Very few Flatheads will produce power above 5000. In an effort to do this you have to have better breathing than you can get from a modified stock port5. By aluminizing or welding in a new port some increase can be obtained. Dyno tests have shown that after 45-4800 RPM the power begins to fall off. Cam and combustion chamber desigh can extend this, but it's still down hill from there. Now Big engines produce very hi CR ratios so the heads can be opened up and POP-up pistons can be used and several builders have done this successfully. In my Bville engine I wanted to improve my CR without restricting flow so I used 3 3/4 pistons on a 4" crank along with a Harly style combustion chamber. Unfortunately this engine sits in a junkyard in Yoba City. When you decide to make a modification, research it well, this is a good place. I will leave you with this. I can spend 10 minutes in a port and get as much flow as most can all day. Take care and keep em runnin. Ol' Ron |

Re: Bunch of stuff
I want to apologize for getting out of line there. I just get frustrated sometimes.
This site is working quite well now, I don't have to log in everytime I get on it. Now I have to figger out how to negotiate it. |
