Re: 1936 PU original colors, purple and yellow?
For many years the Roadway Trucking Co, a very large interstate company's standard color scheme was a orangish-yellow and a purple-blue combination.

Going by the wheels 'style' would be too easy. Do you see that "chrom-ish" Ford oval on the upper hood side panel? In the MIDDLE of panel is '35. Toward the FRONT is '36. DD 1935 1936 ........ |

If you put '38-39 drums on your '36 you can use '36-39 wheels and the original '36 hub caps. When I originally put hydraulic brakes on my '36 in 1952 I used the brake system from a '41, drums and wheels. I had 16" 5 on 5.5 wheels on the car with various styles of aftermarket hub caps, including stock Ford of various years. In 1962 I got tired of the later model wheels and '46 hubcaps, converted the car to '39 drums and 8/36 wheels with stock '36 hub caps. My '36 is a 8/36 car, so the wheels are correct for the car.

FoMoCo instructions to dealer=the yellow attracts attention when demo'g the pickup; will bring in customers. After demo, prep and paint the yellow a Ford color. This truck was typical '36 Ford green. I was curious because of the dual spares pic in ad in EFV8 mag in 1980?+-. Paid $12,000 had it shipped. Read up on the options this truck had. hmmm. Etched a one-inch etch between cab& box. Sure 'nuf. Yellow under the green! Purdy rare half-ton. nNow incontinued semi-retirement 100mi away. Was located in Arkansas/Missouri. |

It would be neat to see one of these restored back to original presentation. |

Don't forget, If you have 35 wire wheel on later juice brake drums you need the wheel support plates. I was told this buy a friend, went online and found 4 plates made for this for about $90. Thanks Ron

Re: 1936 PU original colors, purple and yellow?
I ended up painting our 1936 Pickup black. Looks great. It might have been more interesting if I would have gone with the yellow and other colors that I had found while sanding the paint. Looks and drives like a new 1936 Ford. It has 1946 Ford hydraulic brakes.
