I have my intake and exhaust off the engine for valve checking. The car runs good so I have not touched the carb yet. My friend noticed. that you could see light through the float bowl. My needle and seat must be good seeing i have been running an open top float bowl.

Do you mean you have a hole in the top of the bowl cover, or are you missing the top to bottom gasket, and see light through the crack?

Possibly a Tillotson with a warped body?? This happens often.

it is warped. a bit the gasket is missing in the crack. but it was running like that not leaking. im ordering new gaskets.

If the cover is warped, a new gasket will not fix it. A lot of Tilly's have warped covers and the mounting flange. Besides a correct Zenith there are other carbs made in the day that, even made of white metal, are less prone to warping. The Tilly X and Marvel-Schebler might be two. Type "fordbarn; model a carburetor" in your search box and you should get lots of info. If you want to narrow down the search add the brand name to the search.
