The stock tear drop tail lights are amazingly dim. I would add lights to both the front and the back. If you really want to be seen, add amber colored fog lights to the front and red colored fog lights to the rear (bulb number 4013R for red 6V fog light bulbs).

I have a stock 1938 1/2Ton and would like to add the same. I am patiently waiting on the SmartSignals (a wireless, magnetic LED light system) as my preferred choice to retain the authenticity. Have no idea how they perform - anyone have experience with these?

I am going to use home made stainless steel brackets that mount on the bumper irions and use the rectangular amber lights simular to motorcycle lights and also use them for parking lights.

How about plopping a twin filament type pig Tail I'm the parking lights, then use a dual filament bulb. Say 5w 21w (or whatever you have in the tail lights) have the 5w for parking light, and 21w for the blinkers. This is what I did on me 42 pickup. Lots of British cars of the 1950's are done this way. All looks completely stock, but has blinkers.
Martin.

You can use the front parking lights for turn lights by disconnecting them from the parking/taillight circuit and substituting the wire from the turn light switch to the front. You won't have front parking lights this way and the front turn signal may not be that visible. You can also change the front light socket from a single contact to a double contact bulb socket. This will allow both turn and parking lights in front. The bright filament on the double contact bulb is for the turn light; just like in the rear.

Did this on my 45 1/2 ton works great, looks stock. The turn signal switch will use the brake lights in the rear, and the brake lights will still work as they should.
